“When I hear people talk about juggling, or the sacrifices they make for their children, I look at them like they’re crazy, because ‘sacrifice’ infers that there was something better to do than being with your children.”Chris Rock
My name is Jessica and I’m a type one diabetic raising a brilliant little girl who has to work extremely hard to learn things most kids pick up naturally. We found our jive when she was 3 years old and we’ve been the dynamic duo ever since! H was diagnosed starting at age 3 with autism, apraxia of speech, dysgraphia, expressive language disorder, auditory processing disorder, idiopathic toe-walking (that has caused some difficulties with the way her skeleton is growing and muscles are tightening) and a slew of other tiny miscellaneous things. If you are unfamiliar with any of those labels, hang around for an explanation! We both enjoy advocacy and spreading awareness for the greater good!
H and I share our home with two dogs, two cats, and a whole slew of board games and graphic novels. We spend our time bonding over our cuddly critters, challenging each other in Catan or Mancala, and reading Amulet or Zita the Spacegirl while drinking coffee and hot cocoa! If we’re outdoors, we’re exploring the many small puddles that can somehow drench a child given you look away from her for half a second to check out the scenery, boulder hopping (whew- that’s enough to put a good dose of healthy fear in mom…. and for mom to consider putting a helmet on the fearless child!), or watching the pups romp in the wild woods of Alaska!
